The system for international registration of industrial designs is referred to as "the Hague System". The Hague System is based on the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs, which is constituted by the Hague (1960) Act and the Geneva (1999) Act. The Hague Agreement offers the possibility of obtaining protection for industrial design in several Contracting Parties by means of a single international application filed with the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). China has joined the Hague System as the 68th contracting party to the 1999 Act.
