The International Bureau checks the international application to ensure that it meets all formal requirements (e.g., contents of the applicant or the representative, quality of reproductions, payment of fees). The international application is considered abandoned unless the applicant will be notified of any irregularities, which must be corrected typically within three months. Unless the applicant requested immediate publication or deferred publication – an international application that complies with the prescribed formal requirements is recorded in the International Register and, published in the International Designs Bulletin twelve months after the international registration date.
