Awaiting the arrival of the 23rd World Intellectual Property Day on April 25, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) held its annual Open Day for the 18th straight year. Commissioner Shen Changyu addressed the welcome ceremony, which was officiated by Deputy Commissioner Hu Wenhui.
Shen updated on CNIPA's basic information in his address. He said this year marks the 45th anniversary of the implementation of the reform and opening up and the 50th anniversary of the WIPO-China cooperation. The establishment and development of the China's IP system profit from reform and opening up and in turn, boost the implementation of the policy. At present, China has acceded to almost all major IP international treaties, established a permanent mechanism for Belt and Road IP international cooperation, been immensely involved in the IP5 (CNIPA-USPTO-EPO-JPO-KIPO), BRICS, China-ASEAN, China-Africa and other sub-multilateral cooperation projects, and forged a bilateral IP tie with over 80 countries/regions. Looking into the future, the CNIPA, adhering to the spirits of reform and opening up, will deeply participate in the global IP governance and rule setting, actively communicate China's propositions and contribute our solutions and wisdom, and promote the proper flow of various factors of innovation, making innovation better serve the people of various countries and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
During the event, the CNIPA announced the 2022 typical cases in several categories including IP administrative protection, patent reexamination and invalidation, trademark opposition and adjudication. Nine regional venues in eight cities were connected through live-streaming. Wang Jing, a reporter from CCTV of the China Media Group spoke as a representative of the press.
As the special day unfolded, over a hundred representatives from innovators, IP agencies and media were invited to visit the IP culture hall, an exhibition of achievements of the IP undertaking in the new era, a photo exhibition of the 50th anniversary of cooperation between China and WIPO, IP reception hall and examination departments, and interact with the staff.
