On the morning of July 10, during the Sixty-Fifth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), held bilateral talks with Daren Tang, Director General of the WIPO in Geneva, Switzerland. The two sides exchanged views on issues including the 3rd High-Level Conference on Intellectual Property for Countries along the "Belt and Road", the diplomatic conference on the Design Law Treaty (DLT), and bilateral cooperation.

Shen noted that since last year, under the guidance of President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter to a commemorative event marking the 50th anniversary of cooperation between China and the WIPO, our collaboration has deepened, yielding practical results. The CNIPA congratulated the WIPO on holding the diplomatic conference in May, which witnessed the conclusion of the Treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge and reaffirmed China's commitment to constructive participation in the formulation of international IP rules under the WIPO framework. Shen wished the upcoming diplomatic conference on the DLT a full success and looked forward to further solidifying future cooperation between the two sides.

Tang highlighted that the successful commemorative events marking the China-WIPO 50th anniversary of cooperation held last year have further strengthened our friendly relations. This year, the two offices will jointly celebrate the 30th anniversary of China's accession to WIPO's PCT system. Over the past three decades, the PCT system has rapidly developed in China, making China the top origin of PCT applications. Tang wished the two offices would continue to deepen cooperation in enhancing IP promotion and development and improving WIPO's global IP service system, working together to advance the global IP ecosystem.

Ambassador Chen Xu, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, participated in the talks and stated that last year's events of 50th anniversary has had a far-reaching impact, laying a solid foundation for deepening future cooperation.
