On April 24, Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), met with Yolanda Huerta, Vice Secretary-General of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) in Beijing.
Shen gave an overview of the CNIPA and the latest developments of the protection of new plant varieties in China. He stated that, since joining the UPOV 25 years ago, China has squarely carried out work on the protection of new plant varieties and the cooperative relationship with the UPOV has become increasingly close. The CNIPA is committed to consolidating and enhancing the level of cooperation with the UPOV and continuing to support UPOV's efforts to promote the protection of new plant varieties globally.
Huerta highly praised China's achievements in the protection of new plant varieties and thanked the CNIPA for its support. She expressed hopes that both sides would work together to elevate the China-UPOV cooperation to new heights.
