CNIPA Deputy Commissioner Meets Nestlé’s Executive VP in Beijing

Lu Pengqi, Deputy Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) met Leanne Geale, Executive Vice President of the Switzerland-based Nestlé Group in Beijing on August 31.

Lu said that the Chinese government has always been attaching great importance to IP protection, adhering to the principle of treating and protecting the IPRs of Chinese and foreign-funded enterprises equally, protecting the legitimate rights and interest of foreign investment by law, constantly refining IP legislation, raising the whole society’s awareness in respecting and protecting IP, and accelerating the construction of an IP powerhouse. The CNIPA is willing to keep communication open with the industry, listen to the requests and comments of enterprises and contribute its efforts to build a friendly innovation and business environment and advance high-level opening-up.

Geale introduced Nestlé’s situation of trademark registration and protection in China, acknowledged China’s effective work in IP protection and looked forward to deepening exchange and cooperation with Chinese IP authorities.
