CNIPA Organizes 2022 Conference on Advisory for Overseas IP Disputes Settlement

The 2022 annual conference on advisory for overseas IP disputes settlement was held in Beijing on June 30. Hu Wenhui, Deputy Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) attended and delivered a keynote speech. Over 160 representatives from the CNIPA, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), members of the Council on National Advisory Center for Overseas Intellectual Property Dispute Settlement, relevant local IP administrations, local Sub-Centers of the National Advisory Center for Overseas Intellectual Property Dispute Settlement participated in the event either offline or online.

Hu noted that the work of advisory for overseas IP disputes settlement  has made tremendous achievements over the past year. With the joint efforts from different regions and agencies, the top-level design and overall deployment for the work have been bolstered. The infrastructure of the system has been improved palpably. Participants shall always keep in their mind that the work of advisory for overseas IP disputes settlement  is a crucial measure in defending national security in the IP field, an important safeguard for performing a higher-level open-up policy, and a basic requirement in furthering the government's reform in easing control over certain matters, administering tightly over certain matters and providing quality services. He stressed that regions and agencies shall implement the important directions of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, try to find a higher thinking position, solidify working basis, solve key and difficult issues, enhance synchronization and coordination of central and local agencies, invest more funds in a bid to successfully address the work of advisory for overseas IP disputes settlement, defend national security in the IP field and assist the construction of an IP powerhouse country.

At the conference, CNIPA's IP Protection Department reported on the progress of the work. The China Intellectual Property Society updated on the work done by the National Advisory Center for Overseas Intellectual Property Dispute Settlement. Representatives from the members of the Council, local IP administrations and local sub-centers gave their input as well.

The conference also released selected cases regarding advisory for overseas IP disputes settlement (2021), a guideline on IP protection categorized by countries (second batch), an investigation report on Chinese companies' IP disputes in the U.S. (2021), a guideline on patent fees overseas (2022) and the updated version of the National World IP Information Service Platform (worldip.cn).(Translated from CNIPA Website Chinese Version)
