On February 5, Shen Changyu, director of China National Intellectual Property Administration held video meeting with Daren Tang, Director General of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) who attended the opening-ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.
Shen Changyu welcomed Daren Tang to attend the opening ceremony of Beijing Winter Olympic Games and said that China put strong focus on the protection of intellectual property of Winter Olympics to accelerate relevant work and support hosting a wonderful, remarkable and brilliant Olympic event. Shen Changyu introduced the latest developments of China's the protection of intellectual property rights and relevant situation of joining Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs. He noted that China's accession to the Hague Agreement has demonstrated the strong statement of firmly upholding multilateralism and opening wider to the outside world, thus winning strong support of WIPO. This is not only beneficial for China's better integration into the designing of globalization system to support China creativity, China design, Made-in-China going global, but also beneficial for promoting the development of global industrial design to make the world a better place.
Shen Changyu appreciated the achievements and successes achieved under the leadership of Daren Tang. He said that over the past year the two parties have engaged in productive cooperation in a wide range of areas and yielded fruitful outcomes. China stood ready to continuously participate in global intellectual property governance under the framework of WIPO to actively contribute its wisdom by holding the principles of openness, inclusiveness, balance and inclusiveness. He hoped that the two parties would carry out more cooperation and exchanges in enforcing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations to promote global innovative development, openness and win-win outcomes so as to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
Daren Tang first congratulated China on successfully holding the impressive opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics. He said that China's work related to intellectual property rights, the importance attached to the intellectual property rights and the achievement thus achieved have set an example for other countries. WIPO was very happy to receive the instrument of accession of the Hague Agreement and the dream of for years of the two parties has come true. This is in the interest of China's design innovation going global as well as of attracting foreign designs into China to create win-win results. WIPO has made preparations of Hague Agreement to be implemented in China and maintained close communication with China National Intellectual Property Administration. He underlined that WIPO believed and supported China to realize the objectives in Outline of Building China into a Country Strong on Intellectual Property Rights (2021-2035) and was willing to enhance cooperation with China in jointly building the "Belt and Road" and providing technical assistance to low- and middle-income countries.
