In recent years, the Trademark Office of China National Intellectual Property Administration has continuously deepened the reform of trademark registration facilitation and continuously optimized the Madrid Trademark International Registration Business services. In 2021, the online application rate of Madrid Trademark International Registration Business submitted by Chinese applicants reached 97%, and the average examination cycle of international registration applications was shortened to 2 months. In order to make more domestic applicants to understand and go abroad through the Madrid Trademark International Registration System, CNIPA has selected business experts and backbones to publicize the advantages of the Madrid Trademark International Registration System in many places, explain the online application system process, and help applicants improve their ability to handle online business. At the same time, in order to equally protect the rights and interests of foreign applicants, the Trademark Office has comprehensively improved the quality and efficiency of the examination of international registration of trademarks. At present, the examination cycle of the application for territorial extension of international registration designated by China through the Madrid Trademark International Registration System has been shortened to 4 months, and the examination cycle of international transfer, change and renewal has been shortened to 1 month, reaching the fastest level ever.
