On October 19, the 18th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum kicked off in Shanghai. This year's theme was Intellectual Property Protection and International Cooperation in the Era of the Digital Economy. Mr. Li Qiang, Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Ms. He Rong, Vice President of the Supreme People's Court of China, and Dr. Shen Changyu, Commissioner of CNIPA, attended and addressed the Opening Ceremony. WIPO Director General Mr. Daren Tang delivered an opening speech via video. Mr. Zhuge Yujie, a member of the Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Chen Qun, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, and Gan Shaoning, Deputy Commissioner of CNIPA, were also present.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Chen Qun and Ms. Liu Hua, Director of WIPO China Office and special representative of the Director General of WIPO, presented the 3rd WIPO-SMPG Shanghai IP Innovation Award to 9 winners. Shanghai High People's Court and WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center signed the Memorandum of Understanding.

The forum was hosted by CNIPA, WIPO and Shanghai Municipal People's Government, with the support of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Office.
