On September 22, Chen Fuli, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Leadership Group of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), met in Beijing with a visiting delegation led by Oramon Sapthaweetham, Director General of Thailand's Department of Intellectual Property (DIP), Ministry of Commerce (MOC). The two sides exchanged views on their respective IP protection systems, the China-Thailand geographical indication (GI) pilot program "3+3," and bilateral cooperation.
Chen said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China and Thailand, treating each other with sincerity and mutual trust, have forged a relationship of "China and Thailand are one family." In the field of IP, CNIPA and DIP have actively pursued cooperation under the framework of bilateral cooperation, China-ASEAN cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative, achieving many tangible results. China is ready to work with Thailand to make positive progress in advancing the China-Thailand GI pilot program "3+3" and further expand cooperation under the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH), injecting new impetus through IP cooperation into moving faster to build a China-Thailand community with a shared future for enhanced stability, prosperity and sustainability.
Sapthaweetham spoke highly of China's achievements in IP development. Thailand values China's fruitful experience in IP protection and services and stands ready to jointly deliver more outcomes in bilateral IP cooperation, providing stronger support for economic and trade ties between the two countries.
