On July 7, the Sixty-Eighth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Member States was held in Geneva, Switzerland. Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), led the Chinese government delegation to the meetings and delivered a general statement. On July 8, the delegation held talks with WIPO Director General Daren Tang, exchanging views on further strengthening cooperation between the two sides. Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, and WIPO Deputy Director General Wang Binying attended the meeting.

In his general statement, Shen briefed participants on the latest developments in China's intellectual property (IP) sector and commended WIPO's achievements over the past year. He congratulated Director General Daren Tang on his re-election by an overwhelming majority from member states and expressed China's support for WIPO to play a greater role in fostering a global IP ecosystem and to continue improving the global IP service system. He also expressed the expectation that WIPO would further advance the mainstreaming of the development agenda across its work.

The Chinese government delegation consisted of representatives from CNIPA, the National Copyright Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva, and the Intellectual Property Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
