High-level Forum on China’s IP Protection 2026 Held in Beijing

On April 20, the High-level Forum on China’s IP Protection 2026, jointly organized by China Intellectual Property News (CIPN) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Office in China (WOC), was held in Beijing. The forum was themed “Emerging Fields in Focus, IP in Action for Growth.” Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), Shi Weizhong, Deputy Prosecutor-General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of China, and Tang Wenhong, Vice Mayor of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. WIPO Deputy Director General Wang Binying delivered a written address. The opening ceremony was chaired by CNIPA Deputy Commissioner Chen Dan.

During the keynote speeches, speakers shared insights and practices on how IP protection can support innovation-driven development in emerging fields from both theoretical and practical perspectives. The forum also featured three sub-forums: “Building an IP Protection Ecosystem for Emerging Fields,” “Driving Innovation in the Sports Industry through IP,” and “Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage through IP.” Representatives from government departments, universities and research institutions, enterprises, and IP service organizations attended the forum.(Translated from CNIPA Website Chinese Version)
