Recently, Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), held a bilateral meeting in Shanghai with Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia (SAKPATENTI), who was visiting China to attend the 22nd Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum. The two sides exchanged views on the latest developments in intellectual property (IP) work in both countries, cooperation on geographical indications (GIs) and other issues of mutual interest.

Shen noted that in recent years, the CNIPA and SAKPATENTI have maintained friendly exchanges and close cooperation, with collaboration areas steadily deepening. Since the signing of the Letter of Intent last year, in which the parties confirmed their intention to cooperate in the field of protection of GIs, the two offices have advanced relevant work in an orderly manner and achieved positive progress. The CNIPA stands ready to further enhance high-level exchanges, expert cooperation, and product promotion with Georgia in the field of GIs, while continuously expanding collaboration in other IP areas to bring greater benefits to IP users in both countries.

Giorgadze commended China's remarkable achievements in IP development. He noted that Georgia has made steady progress in building its IP system and improving its legal framework in recent years. He expressed the hope that Georgia and China would continue to broaden the scope of cooperation and carry out in-depth exchanges in such areas as GIs, patents, and trademarks, achieving mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
