With a unique topography and climate, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province in southwest China is ideally suited to cultivating high quality arabica coffee. In 2010, Baoshan Arabica Coffee was granted geographical indication (GI) product protection. In 2020, Baoshan Arabica Coffee was listed in the first batch of mutually recognized and protected products list under the China-EU bilateral agreement on GIs. Currently, the coffee planting area in Baoshan City has exceeded 130,000 mu, with an annual output of more than 20,000 tons. Nowadays, local coffee makers are targeting more value-added products such as freeze-dried and cold-brew coffee.
