Gannan navel orange is originated from Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, which is celebrated for its juicy, crisp taste, and sweet fragrance. In 2009, "Gannan navel orange" was registered as geographical indication (GI) certification trademark. In 2020, Gannan navel orange was selected into the first batch of mutual recognition and  protection list of the bilateral agreement between China and the European Union (EU) on GIs. In 2023, the planting area of Gannan navel orange reached 1.94 million mu, with a yield of about 1.8 million tons, and its brand value reached 69.127 billion yuan, making it become a shining business card of Jiangxi Province.
