Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province, is the hometown of China's high-quality rice, producing Wuchang Rice with large, full grains and strong flavors. In 2007, Wuchang Rice was registered as geographical indication (GI) certification mark, and selected into the first group of products list under a China-EU GI protection and cooperation agreement in 2020. In recent years, Wuchang City has comprehensively promoted the "Ten Major Projects" around the development goal of "World-class Brand and A Trillion-yuan Industry" for rice. As a result, the brand value of Wuchang Rice has soared to 71,341 billion yuan, and it has ranked first nationwide as for the rice category of GI products for nine consecutive years.
