Shen Changyu Holds Talks with UKIPO Chief Executive Adam Williams

On November 27, Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), held talks with Adam Williams, Chief Executive of the Intellectual Property Office of the United Kingdom (UKIPO), during his visit to China. The two sides engaged in profound discussions on issues including the latest developments in their respective IP systems, IP finance, and future collaboration between the two offices. They also signed the 2025 work plan for bilateral cooperation.

Shen highlighted that both sides have actively implemented the important consensus reached between the heads of state of the two countries, fostering close bilateral exchanges in the field of IP. Productive cooperation has been achieved in areas such as high-level engagement and examination operations. In recent years, China has made new strides in establishing an efficient system for the comprehensive management of IP, applying AI in the IP field, and promoting patent commercialization and utilization. The CNIPA is committed to further deepening its collaboration with the UKIPO to better serve IP users in both countries, achieving mutual benefit and win-win results.

Williams praised China's remarkable achievements in IP development and shared updates on the UKIPO's progress in digital transformation and implementation of IP for a creative and innovative UK Strategy. He expressed hope for enhancing dialogue and knowledge sharing with the CNIPA, sharing good practices to support scientific innovation and economic development in both countries. During his visit to Beijing, Williams and his delegation also toured several local high-tech enterprises.
