Recently, Trial and Appeal experts from CNIPA and EPO had an online exchange. Mr. Liu Ming, Deputy director of the Reexamination and Invalidation Department of the Patent Office (PRD) CNIPA, led the delegations of CNIPA to participate online, and related experts from the Examination Coordination Division, the 1st and 2nd Optical and Electrical Technology Appeal Division, Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Appeal Division participate.

Amid the meeting, the two parties conducted an in-depth discussion on the review standards of disease diagnosis methods around two cases proposed by CNIPA. Subsequently, the CNIPA experts observed the online oral proceeding held by the EPO BoA for the first time. This case is an appeal against the opposition decision, and the panel announced the conclusion of the case in court.

Up to this year, the two parties have conducted joint research on selected cases in the fields of Pharmacy, Chemistry, Materials, Machinery, Electricity, Optical and Electrical, etc., and achieved fruitful results, which provided an significant reference for the trial/appeal proceedings of CNIPA and EPO.
