On September 6, the Patent Reexamination and Invalidation Department (PRD) held the 8th Trial and Appeal Expert Meeting between China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and Japanese Patent Office (JPO) through video conference. Ms.MAHao, PRD Inspector led a delegation of relevant personnel from Examination Coordination Division, Quality Assurance Division and the Second telecommunication Appeal Division to attend; Ms.TAMURA Kiyoko, Executive Chief Administrative Judge of JPO Trial and Appeal Department  led Japanesedelegation to participate online. 

This meeting covered topics including "Principle of Examination upon Request and Conducting Examinations Ex Officio in the invalidation procedure" and "How efficiently each Office handles invalidation trial cases". Through discussion, both parties deepened their mutual understanding of invalidation proceedings and two principles in invalidationproceduresmentioned above. At the meeting, they also provided certain valuable reference reciprocally on how to improve the examination efficiency of invalidation cases. 

This meeting enhanced bilateral understanding on invalidation proceedings, providing the CNIPA with vital reference to further improve the quality and efficiency ofinvalidation proceedings.
