The 7th Trial and Appeal Expert Meeting between CNIPA and JPO Video Conference was held on September 29. Ma Hao, Deputy Inspector of the Patent Reexamination and Invalidation Department led a delegation to attend the meeting. Besides,relevant personnel of the Examination Coordination Division, Research Division and 2nd Electrical Appeal Division also participated. The conference was hosted by JPO and presided over by Executive Chief Administrative Judge of JPO Trial and Appeal Department.   

The conference focused on two cases involvinginventive step examination standards in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things. Through the relevantdiscussion and exchange, it can be seen that the two parties basically reach a common ground on inventive step height of AI patent application,but divergencesstill exist in somereexamination ideas on details. 

At this meeting, the two parties enhanced mutual understanding and learned from each other's reexamination experience, which provided useful reference to further improve examination standards in the AI field.  (The Patent Reexamination and Invalidation Department Reported and photographed by Tian Lili)
