The State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) commenced PPH pilot programs with the Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO) and the Portuguese Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) respectively on January 1, 2013 and January 1, 2014 for periods of two years and one year ending on December 31, 2015.

According to the Joint Declaration of Intent for Extending the Patent Prosecution Highway Pilot Program between State Intellectual Property Office of China and Danish Patent and Trademark Office, the PPH pilot program was extended from January 1, 2016 for three years ending on December 31, 2018 with related requirements and procedures unchanged.

SIPO and INPI together decided to extend the PPH pilot program between the two offices from January 1, 2016 for three years ending on December 31, 2018 with related requirements and procedures unchanged
