The State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) and Japan Patent Office (JPO) commenced a Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot program on November 1, 2011 for a period of four years ending on October 31, 2015. 

According to the Joint Declaration of Intent for Extending the Patent Prosecution Highway Pilot Program between the State Intellectual Property Office of China and Japan Patent Office, the PPH pilot program was extended from November 1, 2015 for three years ending on October 31, 2018 with related requirements and procedures unchanged.
