According to the report Shanghai Education Committee released, in 2012, Shanghai universities filed a total of 8,670 patent applications, up 9.7%, and obtained 6,228 patents, up 33.5%. As of the end of 2012, Shanghai universities have owned 16,716 patents, up 19.3%than that of last year.
