With 1,780 invention applied, Zhejiang University paced all the other universities in the top 50 invention applicant list in 2009, followed by Tsinghua University with 1,435 applications. Also, Zhejiang University ranked the top in the  granting list with 919 granted patents, followed by Tsinghua Universtiy, Shanghai Communication University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Harbin Communication University. 2013-07-17
