Circular on Strengthening Protection and Management of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Projects

The Ministry of Culture recently released a Circular on Strengthening Protection and Management of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Projects. The circular requires that related agencies and departments should strengthen protection and management of national intangible cultural heritage projects, further improve mechanism of examination, supervising, rewarding and withdrawal for national intangible cultural heritage projects.


The circular clearly spelled out that intangible cultural heritage projects demanding name correction or losing characteristics of living culture due to the environment changing should be confirmed by experts and sought opinions of the Joint Inter-ministerial Meeting regarding protection of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Projects and then reported to the State Council for name correction or removed from the list.
