The Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) will implement the Knowledge Innovation Project-the Plan on Boosting S&T Innovation, according to a conference held by CAS. Under the plan, CAS would hold essential technology in key areas and own independent IPRs and provide strong support for building an innovation country.

CAS would hold essential technology, master relevant core technologies, breed some innovation achievements, break the bottleneck restricting China's development, become a leader in some vital areas, cultivate a high-level innovation team and develop a platform for commercializing innovation achievements.
