The General Office of the State Council issued its Opinions on facilitating China's Intertropical Crops industry development. The Opinion requires formulating a medium-and-long term development plan, foster high quality varieties with self-reliant IPRs,stepping up S&T innovation and application of key technologies, and establishing a long-term mechanism for a healthy development of the industry.

Under the opinion, concerted efforts should be made to improve research capacity of intertropical crops, continue to support the construction of modern agriculture system, encourage building an innovation strategy allies on this regard, strengthen industry-university-research cooperation.
