On April 24, CNIPA Commissioner Shen Changyu met WIPO Director General Francis Gurry at the National IP Publicity Week. Shen noted that CNIPA values the long-term friendly relations with WIPO, supports WIPO's role as the main platform for international rulemaking on IP and is ready to advance the bilateral cooperation to a higher level. Gurry appreciated China's achievements in IP system building. He wished to further strengthen cooperation with WIPO in various areas. The two sides also shared comments on the latest development, IP cooperation along the Belt and Road Initiative and the cooperative project on establishing a technology and innovation support center in China.

On April 25, during the publicity week, Shen met his counterparts including Fernando dos Santos, Director General of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization, Denis L. Bohoussou, Director General of the Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle, Alicja Adamczak, President of the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland.

When meeting Fernando dos Santos, Shen noted that, since the establishment of the cooperative relations, the two sides have collaborated on high-level visits, experience exchanges, talent training, automatization construction and other aspects with smooth progress. He wished that the two sides will continue to work together to further the cooperation within the Belt and Road framework and under the guidance of the plan for China-Africa cooperation. The two sides also exchanged views on holding China- Africa High-Level Seminar on IP and further enhancing cooperation in patent examination.

When meeting Denis L. Bohoussou, Shen indicated that IP cooperation between China and Africa has been intensified along the Belt and Road Initiative in recent years. He wished the two sides will have more fruitful cooperation within the Belt and Road framework. The two sides also exchanged opinions on strengthening cooperation in business exchanges, training and IT.

When meeting Alicja Adamczak, Shen said that the two sides have collaborated on high-level exchanges and Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) with smooth progress and remarkable achievements. In recent years, IP cooperation is increasingly close and constantly expanded between China and Visegrad Group, a regional organization composed of four countries. He wished to make the China-Visegrad Group Joint Seminar on IP an important platform for promoting cooperation between China and the four Visegrad member countries. The two sides exchanged views on further cooperation.

On April 29, Shen shared comments on strengthening cooperation in geographic identification (GI) with Takatori Shuichi, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan. Shen noted that China and Japan have collaborated on IP for 40 years, shaping solid foundations and reaping fruitful results. He wished to strengthen exchanges and experience sharing in international cooperation in IP protection with Japan and other countries. Takatori Shuichi introduced the GI work carried out in the Ministry and wished to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two sides through the visit. The two sides also shared views on other issues of common concern.
