The State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) Convened the Seventh Deputy Director General Meeting and the Fifth Round Table of the Industry Community

A few days ago, SIPO and IPI convened the seventh Deputy Director General meeting in Shanghai. He Zhimin, the Deputy Director General of SIPO and Felix Addor, his counterpart of IPI attended the meeting.

He Zhimin noted that positive progress has been achieved in the activities jointly conducted by China and Swiss under the framework of bilateral Memorandum of Cooperation in recent years and he also hoped that both sides will make joint efforts to provide more efficient and convenient services for the IPR users of both countries so as to effectively encourage the common development of IPR in China and Swiss. Addor highly commended the latest achievements of China’s IPR and hoped to further strengthen the bilateral exchanges and cooperation on IPR.

In the meeting, both sides had exchanges on the issues such as the latest development of the IPR, the revise of laws and regulations and IPR protection in both countries. Besides, they had in-depth discussion on the examination and practice of medical patents and the trademark registration concerning Swiss coat of arms and national flag and other specific business issues and they also shared their best practices of work. 

Both offices jointly held the Fifth Round Table for the business communities of China and Swiss in the sidelines of the meeting. Over 50 delegates from the related government departments, companies and IPR services agency of both countries attended the meeting and had full exchanges and discussion on the laws and regulations of IPR, the examination and practice of patents and trademarks as well as the issues of law enforcement and protection of both countries.(Translated from SIPO Website Chinese Version)
