SIPO Commissioner Shen Changyu shared comments on major IP issues with WIPO Deputy Director General Wang Binying at the 2018 China High-Level Forum on IP Protection on April 20.

Shen noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping takes IP protection as one of the four major measures in opening up wider in his speech at the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference, informing the world China's strong determination in bolstering IP protection. In recent years, more and more Chinese companies have been venturing out to compete on the global stage. China has taken serious measures for the protection of IPRs owned by foreign enterprises in China, and hopes foreign governments will return the favor to IPRs owned by Chinese interests. Thanks to the established close cooperation between SIPO and WIPO, both the sides have gained significant fruits from such cooperation in many aspects. SIPO wishes to further the cooperation on IP protection to promote the development of IP of China and the rest of the world.

Wang relayed WIPO Director General Francis Gurry's sentiments after being exposed to the Xi speech. She appreciated Chinese leaders' efforts in IP protection, which would play a vital role in cooperation and exchange between the two sides. In recent years, China has enjoyed outstanding achievements in the IP sector and become a more and more important player on the global IP stage. She also wished a closer cooperation in the coming days and may such cooperation continue to contribute wisdom and power to the global IP development. 

The two sides also shared comments on information services, training and promotion of global IP system.
