He Zhimin Addressed AIPPI China Special Session

 

At the invitation of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) He Zhimin led a delegation to attend the 2017 AIPPI World Congress – Sydney and held a China Special Session on China’s intellectual property system development.

He Zhimin introduced the characteristics and main achievements of China's intellectual property system in his speech at the China special session. He pointed out that with China’s economy stepping into new normal, innovation-driven development became China's strategic choice. Intellectual property closely relates to innovation-driven development, and becomes the inner demands to stimulate innovation, allocate resources, protect innovation products, cultivate innovative culture, and promote development. He said that China's intellectual property system and international rules are highly consistent, and China has provided administrative and judicial protection, two channels that connects with and complements each other. An all-around intellectual property rights management system was established. He also briefed the meeting with China’s important progress made in intellectual property legislation, law enforcement, operation, cultural construction and international cooperation in recent years. He stressed that SIPO will conduct more open, inclusive and active cooperation with global parties to jointly promote the international rules of intellectual property to be more beneficial, inclusive and balanced. Nearly 300 government officials, experts, scholars, legal persons and industry representatives from all over the world, attended the China special session.

During the Congress, He Zhimin exchanged views with World Intellectual Property Organization Director General Francis Gurry, Eurasian Patent Organization President Saule Tlevlessova, IP Australia Director General Patricia Kelly and representatives from the industry.
