On March 29th, SIPO Commissioner Shen Changyu and Cham Prasidh, Minister of State and Minister of Industry and Handicrafts of the Kingdom of Cambodia (MIH) attended a certificate award ceremony for the first batch of China's valid invention patents getting registered and taking effect in Cambodia. This first batch of such patents, a total of 20 pieces, came from Nuctech/Tsinghua University, ZTE, and Huawei.

At the ceremony, Shen Changyu highly praised SIPO-MIH cooperation outcomes in patent examination. He pointed out that the high efficiency for the first batch of Chinese patents to finish formalities of registering and taking effect in Cambodia reflects Chinese and Cambodian IP authorities' high attention to this cooperation and the urgent need from the industries. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Cambodia diplomatic relations. The fact that China's valid invention patents get registered and take into effect in Cambodia is not only a milestone for China-Cambodia IP cooperation, but also a symbolic achievement of IP cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. He hoped that the deepening IP cooperation between China and Cambodia will provide strong support to their innovation, entrepreneurship, technological exchanges, and economic ties.

Cham Prasidh fully recognized China-Cambodia patent examination cooperation, especially the significance of China's valid patents getting registered and taking effect in Cambodia. He expressed his appreciation for China's high-speed IP development, and hoped that more Chinese valid patents get registered and take effect in Cambodia.

More than 60 people attended the event, including high-level officials from the MIH, the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, and the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, representatives from the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, the Intellectual Property Association of Cambodia, and business representatives, SIPO officials, and representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia.
