In the afternoon of November 30, Mr. Tian Lipu, Commissioner of SIPO, meets Mr. Wubbo de Boer, director of EU Trademark Office, and his team in Beijing, and two parties have a friendly talk on the progress of two organizations and possibility about future cooperation. 

After expressing his warm welcome, Mr. Tian Lipu introduces his guests about SIPO's work, especially China's system about outer design protection. Mr. Tian says that the growth of application for outer design patent in China has been the No. 1 in the whole world in the past few years, but there are still some problems, such as still a few of Chinese enterprises applied that abroad. This means there is a big potential. "I believe EU outer design system is quite helpful to Chinese enterprises, and SIPO is willing to enforce its cooperation and communication with EU Trademark Office, so as to help Chinese enterprises have a better understanding of EU system, " Tian adds. Meanwhile, Tian expects European enterprises to know more about China's IP system, and thus expand their business in China.

Mr. Wubbo de Boer,after expressing his thanks to Tian's meeting, says that EU Trademark Office, after its establishing outer design sytem in 2003, receives 17,000 outer design applications with 70 percent of them come from EU countries. He wishes to work together with SIPO to have more such applications from China in the future.

The two leaders have a good talk on cooperation between the two offices, such as mutual visits and dialogue between senior officials, co-hosting symposiums and more communication between the them, so as to promote Sino-Eu trade relation, cooperation in IP, especially in outer design field, and create a favorable environment for  both Chinese and European business  people.
