WIPO Traditional Knowledge, Culture and Heritage Regional Symposium Held in Zhengzhou

 

On December 13, WIPO Traditional Knowledge, Culture and Heritage Regional Symposium was opened in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. Mr. Lin Binghui, Vice Commissioner of SIPO and Mrs. Wang Binying, Assistant Secretary General of WIPO gave them presentations on the opening ceremony. Mr. Lu Guoliang, a department of director of SIPO presided the ceremony.

Hosted by WIPO, SIPO, Henan Provincial Government and organized by Henan Provincial IP Office, the symposium invited delegates from Korea, Thailand, India, Mongolia, Malaysia, Philippine as well as other 13 countries. Representatives from ASEANA, ARIPO, OAPI, SSARC, La Comunidad Andina and Pacific Community were also invited. These, together with officials from relevant departments of China, Chinese scholars as well as people in other circles, had deeply exchanged their ideas on the subject. Experts from Norway, India, Nigeria, WIPO and China were invited to present their speeches on the symposium. All the attendants, taking the symposium as an exchange platform, expressed their ideas, exchanged their experience, and made new friends. 

Mr. Antony Schott Tauban, Acting Director of WIPO IP Affair Division, Mr. Ranjana Nalin Abeysekera, Deputy Director of WIPO's Cooperation for Development Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, Mr. Wend Wendland, Deputy Director of WIPO IP Affair Division, Mr. Shakeel Bhatti, section director of WIPO as well as other officials and scholars from WIPO, delegates from Asia, Europe, America, Africa and other organizations, totaling more than 150 people, attended the symposium.
