" 2006 Innovation IP Enterprise Prize" Awarding Ceremony Held in HK

 

On November 19, " 2006 Innovation IP Enterprise Prize" Awarding Ceremony was held in Hong Kong. Mr. Xing Shengcai, Vice commissioner of SIPO, Mr. Li Zhongtuo, Director of Guangdong Provincial IP Bureau, and Dr. Samson Tam, Deputy Chairman, Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), attended the ceremony.

 

Dr. Samson Tam said in his speech on the ceremony that since the central government adopted 11th Five-Year-Plan Period in this year, those industries over-consuming energy or producing too much pollution have been promoted to be innovated, and they have been upgraded under the guideline of self-innovation. Under this policy, Guangdong will speed up its renovating and transforming those of low added-value enterprises. Therefore, Hong Kong business people have to study the new situation, build up their own brands, upgrade their products so as to be more competitive in international market, Samson added.

 

According to Dr. Tam, this is not only a problem just for Hong Kong business people, but also a challenge to all Chinese industrial section. From "Made in China" to "Created in China" is a long process and need more efforts in enforcing technical innovation, and while, IP creation and administration is the key to realize the transformation.

 

The purpose of co-hosting "Innovation IP Enterprise Prize" by HKPC and Guangdong Provincial IP Bureau, according to Dr.Tam, is to lift the ability of Hong Kong and mainland enterprises in innovation, IPR protection and utilization. This prize evaluated enterprises'IPR management level with four aspects, such as the invention and innovation, commercialization and industrialization, IPR management and IPR capitalization. After careful evaluation, there were six Hong Kong enterprises granted the prizes as a result of their outstanding performance in IPR field.

 

In this year, the hosts also added the Most Potential IPR Enterprise Prize to encourage, and all together 11 Hong Kong enterprises prized.
