China and Kazakhstan to Enforce Cooperation in IP

 

Between December 19 and 23, Mr. Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, paid a state visit to China. Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Kazakhstan counterpart signed China-Kazakhstan Cooperation Strategy for the 21st Century. According to the document, the two sides had talked issues in politics, economy, science and technology, security, environment protection and other international affairs, and agreed to fight against pirated and infringed products and IPR protection.
    
The two sides promise to continue to carry out cooperation between law-enforcement departments of the two countries to fight against drug smuggling, weaponry and explosives trafficking, money-laundering and transnational organized crimes, and to take measures to crack down on illegal immigration and perfect the legal basis in this regard.

The two countries, of similar historical background and a long history of friendship, also vowed to fight against cross-border crimes, terrorism, separatism and extremism, stressing their security cooperation will not target a third party, "To safeguard security when contingencies occur, the two governments are required to enhance constructive dialogue on disaster prevention and relief and hold joint disaster-relief exercise aimed to dispel environmental threats within the framework of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO)," the two presidents believed.
