On January 17 Director Tian Lipu of the SIPO, accompanied by Director Liu Zhengang of Beijing IP Office and comrades-in-charge of its related departments, visited the Beijing Zhongguancun IP Promotion Office, Beijing IP Service Center and Beijing Property Trading Office, where he made an on-spot study of IP work in Beijing and expressed greetings to the staff working at the grass-root line of IP work in the capital. 

After hearing work reports of the visited units and the report on Beijing IP work, Director Tian Lipu pointed out that, with great attention and support of the Beijing municipal Party Committee and government, significant progress has been achieved on the last few years in all activities related to IP protection, which has been top among others in the country. IP work has provided important backing and promotion for the capital's economic development and its construction into a new innovative city. Especially, the recently promulgated Beijing Development of Intellectual Property Activity for the 11th Five-Year Plan Period will certainly have more active and far-reaching influence in that Beijing government agencies lead the development of industry and speed up the process of upgrading the capital's core competitiveness and making its enterprises more competitive internationally. It is hoped that Beijing IP work departments will further implement the spirit of the Central Party Committee, take the hard-to-get opportunity of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the expansion of a new innovative capital, have a clear understanding of domestic and overseas situations of IP development, conduct their work with a high sense of urgency and mission, continue to make contributions to the construction of a harmonious Beijing community.
