The National Meeting of IP Administration Directors was held in Nanchang city, Jiangxi Province on the morning of April 10. TIAN Lipu, Commissioner of the SIPO, and HU Zhenpeng, Deputy Governor of Jiangxi Provincial People's Government addressed the opening ceremony. Also present at the meeting were LIN Binghui, Deputy Commissioner of the SIPO, ZHANG Qin, Deputy Commissioner of the SIPO, XING Shengcai, Head of the Discipline Inspection Team under the SIPO assigned by the Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC.

 

At this meeting, TIAN Lipu made a speech entitled "Seize the Opportunity to Promote a Fast and Steady Development of IP Cause in China". TIAN Lipu noted that in 2006, all IP administrations in China made new achievements in various IP-related work by meeting the requirements for scientific development in a systematic manner and focusing on the main tasks designated by the CPC. Thus the IP cause has entered a new stage. Currently China is facing a strategic opportunity for its socio-economic development when the momentum for international IP development and the domestic condition have raised new requirements for IP. Thus we need to understand this situation, seize the opportunity and rise to the challenges ahead. To this end, we should rigorously strengthen IP creation, management, protection and utilization; further promote IP public awareness campaigns, talent training and team building; speed up the building of an IP service system; and striving to create a new environment for IP protection as a way to prepare for the 17th CPC National Congress.

Right after this speech, ZHANG Qin, Deputy Commissioner of the SIPO gave a report on the progress in the development of the National IP Strategy, his preliminary vision on its implementation and preparations.

 

This meeting is aimed at further implementing the principles set by Secretary General HU Jintao in his important "5.26" remarks, focusing on the goal of building an innovation-driven country, putting the concept of scientific development to practice, proactively promoting the development and implementation of the National IP Strategy and furthering all aspects of IP. The winners of the National Model Teams in IP Training and National Model Individuals in IP Training will be announced at this three-day meeting. The second regular meeting under the Cooperation and Meeting Mechanism between the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government and the SIPO will be held during this meeting together with the Unveiling Ceremony of the National Patented Technology (Jiangxi) Exhibition Center and Jiangxi Technology Trading Market.
