Jointly sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, the State Intellectual Property Office of China, the All-China Trade Union, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the All-China Women's Federation and the China Inventors' Association, the first public lecture on the "China Contemporary Inventors' Innovation Deeds Reporting Activities" was solemnly held in Beijing on June 26, 2007.

 

Gu Xiulian, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China and President of the All-China Women's Federation, Ouyang Jian, Deputy-head of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, Huang Qingyi, Vice-President of the All-China Women's Federation, Tian Lipu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office, Zhang Mingqi, Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Trade Union, He Junke, Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and Xing Shengcai, Executive Vice-President of the China Inventors' Association and other leaders cordially met with Bao Qifan, Wang Yongmin, Li Guanqi, Wang Hongjun, Yu Lu, Zhong Chunyan and Wang Zichun, members of the reporting team and attentively listened to their excellent reports together with nearly 400 people from all walks of life of the capital.

 

At the meeting, Gu pointed out that science and technology workers constitutes a great contingent of human resource and is an important force for the all-round building of a well-to-do society and the building of a harmonious society.  The State attaches great importance to the science and technology work. The promulgation and implementation of the "Law Concerning the Progress of Science and Technology", the "Patent Law" as well as the issuance of the successive National Science and Technology Progress Awards and the organizing of the various forms for publicity and commendation have all manifested the State's full confirmation of the science and technology work and the science and technology workers.  This has, to a great extent, upgraded the understanding of the entire society towards science and technology as well as the science and technology talents, creating a social environment of respecting knowledge, respecting talents and encouraging innovation and energetically pushing forward economic development and social progress.

The three main speakers of this public lecture were Bao Qifan, Vice President of the Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd., Wang Yongmin, Board Chairman of the Wang Ma Group of China and Zhong Chunyan, General Manager of the Hainan Yeguo Foods Co., Ltd.  The themes of the three lectures were respectively: "Innovation Forges My Career and Invention Changes My Life", "Bringing Honor to My Country by Making Invention and Creation" and "One Patent Builds up an Industry".  Based on their own true innovation experiences and working practices, the three speakers told the audience their vivid stories.  There were bursts of applauses amid the audience.

 

According to the relevant personnel of the sponsoring units, this kind of mass creation activities for the building and popularization of the intellectual property culture will continuously be held throughout the country in various forms.  As a part of this activity, two more public lectures will be held in Shenyang of Liaoning Province and Chongqing Municipality.
