Li Yuguang Attended ACPAA-KPAA Joint IP Seminar

On the afternoon of July 24, All-china Patent Agents Association (ACPAA) and Korea Patent Attorneys Association (KPAA) jointly held the ACPAA-KPAA Joint IP Seminar in Beijing. Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) of China Li Yuguang, ACPAA President Ma Lianyuan and KPAA President Kwang-Koo AHN attended the seminar and spoke at the opening ceremony presided by ACPAA Vice President Li Yong.


Li Yuguang pointed out that SIPO attaches great importance to the works of IP agents and strengthens its supports to them in recent years. China should learn from Republic of Korea’s world-leading experiences in this regard. The IP administrations of China and Korea have established close cooperation and dialogue mechanism, supplying sound basis and conditions for the two countries to exchange views on the layer of patent agents associations.

According to Ma Lianyuan, KPAA’s visit to China successfully established a platform for the two countries to exchange experiences and learn from each other. Kwang-Koo AHN stressed the importance and necessity of strengthening cooperation and exchanges between the two associations.

More than 100 people from patent agents and related departments attended the seminar. Participants discussed the IP system construction and practices in both China and Korea. Korean participants introduced the IP laws and institutions in their country.

The topics included the revision of the law related to IP protection in Korea, which came into effective as of July 1, 2007, case analysis of patent violation in China, lawsuit system of IP protection in Korea and China’s review procedure and guide. Through the seminar, both sides hope to further strengthen the mutual understandings and exchanges between patent agents and promote the IP development in the two countries.
