On July 24, the Award Ceremony of First Creativity Contest for Youngsters and IP Publicity and Education was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, with participants including Zhang Huaixi, Vice Chairman of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Honorary President of Chinese Society of Education, Jiang Ying, Deputy to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Director of the Organizing Committee for the Contest, Lin Binghui, Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of China, and other more than 1,800 representatives from all walks of life.
Jiang delivered a keynote speech, noting that the contest would exert positive influences regarding publicizing the Patent Law among youngsters, strengthening their IP protection consciousness and promoting their creativity development, serving as a concrete form and starting point of deepening IP education in primary and middle schools. All the participants of the First Creativity Contest for Youngsters were trained before the contest and were required to make their contest works on the spot. This is an outstanding feature of the contest.

More than 1,000 participants from 21 provinces and municipalities nationwide attended the series activities of IP promotions and created several hundreds of new types of articles for daily use that could be applied for patents.
According to Zhang Huaixi, the inter-country competition in the future is mainly in science and technology and intellectual property fields. The quantity and quality of independent intellectual properties are the important symbols of a country’s comprehensive competitiveness. He encouraged youngsters to be developed into creative talents and make more contribution to China’s construction.
Lin Binghui noted that the contest had led the students into a creative world and helped them establish IP consciousness. He required the youngsters to respect the spirit of innovation and intellectual property so as to contribute to the construction of a new type of innovative society.
At the ceremony, Zhang, Jiang and Lin gave out awards to representatives of winners. The awards include innovative school prize, innovative student prize and outstanding organizing prize. Representatives of winners spoke at the ceremony, expressing their gratitude to the sponsors’ efforts in supplying the opportunity for youngsters to show their creative ability and works.
On behalf of the sponsors, President of Chinese Society of Education Gu Mingyuan expressed his appreciation to the organizers and other staff. He encouraged youngsters to actively participate in such activities. According to him, this contest will be held annually with no threshold. This will supply a platform for more primary and middle school students to show their creative abilities.
Meanwhile, 10 winners of the contest read out the Declaration of IP Protection of Chinese Youngsters.
In addition, the winners of the First Creativity Contest for Youngsters read out the Declaration of IP Protection of Chinese Youngsters at the Award Ceremony of First Creativity Contest for Youngsters and IP Publicity and Education held in Beijing on July 24.
The Declaration, which voices the heartfelt wishes of all Chinese youngsters, is of great significance in the era when the independent innovation is regarded as the foundation of existence and development. The Declaration calls for Chinese youngsters to work together for the goals of becoming creative talents through respecting innovation spirit, improving their innovation ability, esteeming innovation achievements, protecting intellectual property and fighting against piracy, and thus, to make contributions to China’s innovation society construction.
The event was held by Chinese Society of Education and the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China, and was jointly initiated by 58 schools including Yucai Middle School of Yulin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Dajiang Middle School of Qidong City of Jiangsu Province and Chencun Vocational School of Shunde District, Foshan City of Guangdong Province.
