Wu Yi and Tian Lipu Included in the List of the 50 Influential People in Global Intellectual Property

The latest issue of British-based Management of Intellectual Property magazine released the List of 50 Influential People in Global Intellectual Property in 2006, which includes 10 women and 39 men from 19 countries (the information of one nominee was not released). Of these people selected, nearly one fifth involve in IP-related work and teaching, and one fifth are engaged in IP policy making. The list also includes 16 guild representatives, seven national, regional and international IP organization chiefs and six chief justices. Compared with the list released last year, nearly a half were newly selected, a phenomenon indicating some changes in the focus of IP affairs, discussing center and nomination of some positions.

Wu Yi, the Vice Primer of China, and Tian Lipu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office, were included in the list again. Other nominees include French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Makoto Nakajima, Commissioner of Japan Patent Office, Jun Sang-woo, Commissioner of Korean Intellectual Property Office, Margaret Chan, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Ernesto Rubio, Assistant Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Francis Gurry, Deputy Director General of WIPO, Charie McCreevy, Commissioner of Internal Market and Services of the European Commission, and U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts.
