Li Yuguang Attended WIPO High-Level Seminar on Intellectual Property of East China

 

The WIPO High-Level Seminar on Intellectual Property of East China was held in Tianjin on September 10-11 with participants including Li Yuguang, Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), Tianjin Municipal leaders, high officials of WIPO Worldwide Academy, IP experts from WIPO, Japan, South Korea and Belgium, experts and scholars from China's IP administration departments and IP research institutes, and leaders of IP administrations and related departments from seven provinces and three municipalities in east China. The more than 150 participants delivered speeches on some core and focusing issues related to intellectual property.

The seminar, sponsored by the SIPO and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and organized by Tianjin IP Administration, was to construct a science and technology innovative society through further lifting IP development level in east China, establishing the concepts of intellectual economy management and IP development, and promoting scientific and technological development and economic prosperity in east China. The participants discussed issues such as the roles of the intellectual property in the process of intellectual innovation and wealth creation, policy considerations of establishing multi-level IP strategy, national criteria of IPR protection and the status quo and the developing trend of China's IPR protection, greatly increasing the IPR protection awareness and boosting IP creation, management, protection and utilization capacities in Tianjin. Meanwhile, it will further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between Tianjin and the WIPO, SIPO and other provinces and municipalities in east China.
