Yang Tiejun Met IBM Delegation

 

On afternoon of September 11, Yang Tiejun, Deputy Commissioner of SIPO, met with a visiting delegation headed by Michael Dixon, Asia Pacific Managing Partner of the Public Sector for IBM Global Business Services. Zhang Dongliang, Vice-Director of SIPO Automation Department, attended the meeting.

 

Mr. Yang, after expressing his welcome, said to the visitors that IBM, as the biggest supplier of information technology and business solutions, have been keeping sound cooperation with SIPO in computer, standard consulting and open systems in the past years since 1998 when SIPO adopted IBM computer for its EPOQUE service. "IBM has been at a leading position in patent applications in China, a convincing example of IBM's strong technological power," Yang added.

 

Mr. Michael Dixon extended his gratitude to SIPO for its appreciation of IBM's performance. He noted that IBM, as an IT company, would like to help users upgrade their professional capability and informationization level. So, IBM has been transforming to service-oriented targeting business and users' application, in a bid to play more active role in clients' business expanding. "IBM's attention to SIPO's patents business along with its advanced technology will become the common ground of cooperation of the two parties, , and IBM is willing to contribute to SIPO's informationization," he said.

 

Mr. Yang gave his gratitude to his guest's introduction, and briefed on the ongoing construction of electric systems for patent approval and search. He wished the two parties to keep on communication for details at working level.
