Tian Lipu Attended Exhibition on Creativity in Hong Kong SAR Opening at WIPO

 

An exhibition showcasing various facets of creativity in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) was inaugurated on Monday evening at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), coinciding with the opening day of the annual session of the WIPO Assemblies.  The exhibition, "HK Creativity ? Intellectual Property in Hong Kong, China," has been organized jointly by WIPO and the Government of the People’s Republic of China, in cooperation with the Government of the Hong Kong SAR.

 

Mr. Tian Lipu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of China, said “This exhibition, covering a variety of sectors and spanning several decades, displays the achievements of Hong Kong talents, and highlights the progress in Hong Kong’s intellectual property regime and its social and economic developments. It enables you to fully appreciate Hong Kong’s past growth, present prosperity and bright future, in which I take great happiness and pride.”

Speaking at the inauguration, WIPO Director General, Dr. Kamil Idris, said the exhibition “showcases excellence in the cultural industries that has brought economic success, international recognition and respect to Hong Kong SAR." The Director General thanked the Government of the People’s Republic of China, the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, the Intellectual Property Department of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, as well as the artists and designers whose works are featured in the exhibition.

Also speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Stephen Selby, Director of the Intellectual Property Department of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, pointed out that the exhibition “includes both Asian and Western elements {and} reflects some of the creative talent that has brought Hong Kong, “Asia’s World City”, to where it is: the “Kung Fu” movie genre, innovative fashion and graphic designs.”    The exhibition features an exclusive combination of art works, designs, fashion items, and films that characterize and reflect Hong Kong SAR’s diversity and creative talent. These include a selection of clips from films that have marked Hong Kong SAR’s film history, award-winning poster designs, calligraphic works, including street graffiti that has been used by a leading fashion designer.
