Yang talked with David J. Kappos

 

On October 11, Yang Tiejun, Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) met the visiting David J. Kappos, Vice President of IBM Headquarters and General Counsel of Intellectual Property Law for IBM Corporation, and his parties, exchanging views on matters of mutual concern in IP sector.

 

Yang briefly introduced the overall information of SIPO, pointing out that the SIPO had taken series of measures to adapt to the rapid development of China's intellectual property, and had made progresses in terms of improving examiners' quality, promoting information works, accelerating patent examination process and increasing examination quality. He also expressed his gratitude to IBM for its prior contribution to SIPO's automation.

 

Officials from the National Office of Strategy Formulation for Intellectual Property, SIPO Legal Affairs Department and Automation Department also briefed on the formulation of China's IP strategies, the latest updates of China's patent law modification and the progress SIPO made in its automation works.

 

David J. Kappos applauded SIPO's rapid development and its outstanding achievements in recent years and made comments on the above-mentioned hot topics in IP sectors.

 

The two parties concluded the meeting at friendly atmosphere.
