On October 15-16, the Touring Symposium of PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) Member States was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province. He Hua, Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), Ye Chonggeng, Vice Mayor of Xiamen People's Government, experts from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Luo Xuan, Director of Fujian IP Administration participated in the symposium. Mr. He gave a special lecture on the topic of PCT and China.

 

At the two-day symposium, WIPO experts and SIPO examiners delivered excellent and pragmatic speeches and answered questions raised by participating units.

 

Participants unanimously believed that this symposium is an important meeting catering to the needs of the rapid development of intellectual property at home and abroad. Five experts made all-sided introductions to PCT basic system, application procedures, latest modification, utilization tactics and points for attention. Meanwhile, they made full and accurate illustration on some detailed steps like filling in PCT tables. The symposium, targeting on and guiding specific topics and audience, provided an important opportunity for inventors, enterprises, colleges and universities, research institutes and agencies in Fujian Province to better understand PCT application. Furthermore it will help Fujian make new breakthroughs in PCT application in the future, promoting the province’s works in IP management and PCT application to a new height.

 

Accompanied by Luo Xuan, Director of Fujian IP Administration and Li Donggen, Deputy Director of the administration, PCT experts specially visited the National Research Center for Epidemic Diagnosis Reagent and Vaccine Engineering Technology of Xiamen University, Motic China Group Ltd., and Xiamen Shouchuang Junhe Patent Agent Co. Ltd. to know more about these PCT clients' information on IP works, especially PCT application. Meanwhile, these experts gave suggestions and advice to the difficulties and problems in their daily works and provided consultation services to them.

 

The symposium was sponsored by the WIPO and SIPO and held by Fujian IP Administration. Nearly 150 people, including directors of IP administrations of Shanghai, Jiangxi and Fujian, representatives from enterprises that conduct national and provincial level patent pilot projects, members of the council of Fujian IP Association, PCT clients, related colleges and universities, research institutes and patent agencies attended the symposium.

 

The touring symposium was held between October 11-12, 15-16 and October 22-23 in Beijing, Xiamen and Changchun respectively.
