Mr. Li Yuguang Attending an IPR Seminar in Macao

 

The eighth session of "Intellectual Property Seminar of Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao" was held in Macao Fisherman's Wharf between October 23rd and 26th. Jointly sponsored by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), the Intellectual Property Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Economic Department of Macao Special Administrative Region, the three parties discussed how to strengthen the IPR protection while expanding the exhibition industry.

 

In his opening speech, Mr. Li Yuguang, the deputy commissioner of the SIPO said that the intellectual property work is likely to play more and more important role in social development, economic growth and companies' competitiveness. "At present, completing relative systems and enhancing the public awareness in IPR should be the common concern of the three parties. SIPO has been established a sound cooperative relationship with Macao and signed cooperative agreement on IPR between two parties, and has assisted Macao to finish patent research and examination," Mr. Li said.

 

Over 220 people from the three areas are invited to attend the seminar, including officials, specialists, lawyers in IP field and representatives from enterprises. During the seminar, they conducted an effective discussion on such topics as state-of-the-art status of intellectual property, IPR protection on exhibitions, IPR creation and management in a company, IPR education, training and research and how to meet the requirement of the sustainable development, etc.

 

The seminar, held every year from 2000 in Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao in turn, has become fruitful platform for the specialists and other relevant people in IPR to exchange ideas, played a positive role to enhance the cooperation of the three parties.
