Li Yuguang Led a Delegation to Europe

 

Recently, Li Yuguang, Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), paid a visit to the Worldwide Academy of WIPO and European Patent Office (EPO) with a delegation consisted of officials from local IP administrations in China eastern part, such as Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Shandong provinces.

 

As a part of triennial cooperation project between SIPO and WIPO, the visit is a follow-up project of "WIPO China Eastern Region High-Level Seminar on Intellectual Property" held in Tianjin in this September with a purpose of further promoting the IP development in the region, updating knowledge-based economy management and acknowledgment on IP development, and accelerating scientific and technological progress and economic prosperity.

 

WIPO attached high importance to this visit, and arranged the delegation to visit Swiss Federal Intellectual Property Office, Nestle headquarter, and WTO. The delegation had fruitful talks with the organizations on IP issues.

 

EPO is a traditional and important and friendly cooperation partner of SIPO. The delegation enjoyed got warm reception by EPO; and had profound interflow with EPO senior officials on such topics as the EPO' organization structure, functions, information service, Sino-Europe IP cooperation and European Qualifying Examination of Patent Agents.

 

This was a successful visit as the members of the delegation had more understanding about IP, and had a more extensive and in-depth acknowledgment to the government function and policies in IPR examination and protection, and IPR strategic management, application as well as others.

 

During the visit, Mr. Li also had meetings with Deputy General Director of WIPO and Deputy Secretary of EPO, and had profound exchanges in the future cooperation of the two parties respectively.
